Everyone’s circumstances are different, and the time you choose to enter care can depend on your illness or daily struggles. There are two types of care: moving into a care home or receiving home care from an expert caregiver.
You may want to go into care if you’re not managing with everyday tasks, don’t feel safe at home, or you experience a sudden incident, like a fall. Other reasons can include needing care after a hospital stay, or having too many problems at home where your family look after you.
Whether you’re struggling mentally or physically with daily life and illness, a care home or home care may be suitable for your needs.
If you’re considering a care home, please don't hesitate to contact us. We’ll discuss your requirements, learn about the type of care you need, and create a tailored care plan.
Choosing a care home is a personal decision, whether you have dementia or need specialised nursing support.
Things to consider when looking for care include:
The design, maintenance and facilities of the care home
Does it have the accessibility to support your needs?
The staff and their approach to care
The autonomy of your care plan
The types of care available
The security of the care home
Food and catering options are available
Social activities and opportunities in the community, including day trips
The flexibility and rules of having visitors
If it feels like a place you’d like to move to, or if the care home aligns with your values
The location of where it is and the proximity to loved ones and other amenities
Whether you can personalise your room to feel like home
The costs of the care home
Access to health professionals
A good care home should provide a comfortable, secure, and thriving environment where residents receive person-centred care, maintain their independence, and have access to a range of social activities. There should be suitable food options, access to healthcare professionals and a focus on individuals’ mental health and wellbeing. A good care home will ensure that residents feel valued and connected daily.
A good care home should include:
A safe and comfortable environment
Person-centred care and support for residents
A range of activities and social opportunities
Personalised catering options
A priority on dignity and respect for residents
Access to quality and secure healthcare

At Overzest Limited, we are committed to creating an enriching experience and making a positive difference for those in care. We believe in changing the stereotype of care homes to reduce loneliness and boredom and create joyful spaces. We aim for everyone to thrive and lead a vibrant, fulfilling life.
You can remain with your current GP and should check if they are happy to support you in our homes. Most residents at Overzest Limited are registered with our general practitioner (GP) to facilitate easier access to appointments.
Everyone is welcome at Overzest Limited, including couples and individuals of all backgrounds. Some of our homes have larger rooms with en-suite facilities. If you require a couple's room, please inquire, and we will be able to let you know whether we have any dedicated couple's rooms available.
We tailor dietary requirements for our residents, helping them feel at home, whether they have allergies or different food preferences. Our chefs offer nutritious and regularly changing menus, suitable for vegetarians, pescatarians or vegans. We’ll prepare food you will love.
We liaise with removal companies to help you move into the care home community and advise on items to bring. If you require assistance, please notify our FLM.
We celebrate and encourage residents to continue with their hobbies and interests, and offer our daily programme of activities to facilitate that fun and intrigue in new and existing skills. Your hobbies and interests don’t need to change because you joined our community; we’ll do our best to support and champion them.
We understand the importance of pets and human connection, and how that can benefit your well-being and overall physical health. We also encourage pets in our homes. We welcome various animals at Overzest Limited, including those from local pet therapy companies, and organise pet care plans for new residents who wish to move in with their pets. Please speak with our team for more information about pets.
We encourage residents to manage their finances and keep cash and valuables secure, and recommend content insurance to cover these valuables.
We tailor care plans to suit individuals' requirements and preferences. Although it isn’t guaranteed which carer assists you, we always do our best to accommodate any special requests and tailor your care accurately.
We do offer trial periods for new residents, giving you peace of mind and a taste of what life is like at Overzest Limited.
Short-term care, also known as respite, helps individuals recover from illness or surgery or provides caregivers with a break. Respite stays range from one week to eight weeks, with individual care plans tailored to each resident's specific needs, supporting their requirements. You can book respite care for a short-term period; please consult our team for details.
We encourage our residents to stay in touch with family and friends and socialise with them as much as possible. Family and friends are welcome to visit and use our visitor cabin and communal areas, whether you’d like to catch up and chat or play some games. We can also organise online meetups with loved ones.
We recognise and celebrate cultural and spiritual diversity as a significant part of our residents' lives. We’ll reflect that in our daily practices and include any preferences in tailored care plans for each resident.
All the rooms are furnished. We encourage residents to personalise their rooms. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Many residents prefer to bring their furniture, making the space feel homely. We will need to ensure, however, that all furniture is compliant with the latest health, safety, and fire regulations.
We don’t have guest rooms for families to stay at the care home, but our team can organise a nearby hotel.
